The community of Monroe City, Indiana, is mourning the loss of Marlin Drieman, 88, whose life was tragically cut short in a crash near Vincennes on Highway 50. At the same time, a dump truck was traveling eastbound, resulting in a devastating collision. The impact forced both vehicles off the roadway and into a nearby ditch. Drieman was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the dump truck was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Authorities also reported a secondary collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 50 while emergency crews were responding, further complicating the scene. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in that incident. The Indiana State Police are leading an ongoing investigation to determine all contributing factors.
