A homicide investigation is underway in Temple Hills, Maryland, following the tragic death of Juanita Frazier, a 38-year-old woman from Washington, D.C., who was fatally shot late Tuesday night at Oxon Run Community Park.
According to the Maryland-National Capital Park Police and the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers were dispatched to the park around 10:20 p.m. after receiving reports of an unresponsive woman. Upon arrival, they found Frazier suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts by first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit have since taken over the investigation, securing the area and working through the night to gather evidence. Authorities are trying to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting, including how Frazier came to be at the park and whether others were involved.
At this time, no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made. Police have also not released information regarding a possible motive.
The normally peaceful community park became the center of a large police presence as investigators processed the scene, leaving the surrounding community shaken.
Authorities are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that could lead to an arrest and indictment in the case. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Solvers or submit an anonymous tip as the investigation remains active.
