A tragic shooting in El Mirage, Arizona, has left a young boy dead and another juvenile injured following an incident that unfolded late Monday evening near El Mirage and Thunderbird Roads.
According to police, officers responded just before 8 p.m. on April 27 after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire in the area. When they arrived, they found a boy suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a hospital but later died from his injuries.
A second juvenile also arrived at a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities say that individual is expected to survive.
Police have not released the identity of the boy who died. At this time, no suspects are in custody, though investigators have identified a possible vehicle connected to the shooting and are actively working to locate it. Officials also stated there is currently no known threat to the wider community.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear as the investigation continues. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward to assist in the case.
